Childcare / Nanny Agreement

Used to formalise the relationship between a family and a nanny who looks after their children in the family's home. UK nannies working in the family's home are typically employees of the family for tax purposes (HMRC has long published guidance on this). Childminders working from their own registered premises are self-employed. This template covers the EMPLOYED-NANNY scenario most commonly used by UK families.

ℹ️ Note for this template: If your nanny works in YOUR home (rather than their own), HMRC almost always treats them as YOUR employee, not self-employed. You will need to register as an employer with HMRC, run PAYE, deduct income tax + NICs, and contribute to a workplace pension once they cross the auto-enrolment trigger (currently £10,000/year). Specialist nanny payroll companies (Nannytax, NannyPaye, Nanny Matters) handle all of this for ~£25/month — strongly recommended.
