1. We are not a law firm
UKContracts.uk is a technology company that provides legal document templates and AI-assisted document generation tools. We are not a law firm, we are not authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or any other legal regulator, and we do not provide legal advice, legal representation, or any service that requires the qualification of a solicitor under the Legal Services Act 2007.
2. Templates are starting points, not legal advice
Every document on our platform is a template — a generic starting point you can customise for your needs. Templates cannot anticipate every situation and may not be suitable for your specific circumstances. You are responsible for:
- reviewing the template before signing or using it;
- customising the content to reflect your actual relationship, transaction, or circumstances;
- checking that current law has not changed since publication;
- seeking professional advice where appropriate.
3. AI-generated content
Where AI is used to generate, fill, or customise documents, the output is produced by a large language model. AI can make mistakes, omissions, or generate content that is technically inaccurate. You should always review AI-generated text before using it. UKContracts.uk does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of AI output.
4. Jurisdiction
Our templates are drafted for use under the law of England and Wales. Where a template explicitly references Scottish or Northern Irish law, we say so. Templates are not drafted for, and may be inappropriate in, other jurisdictions.
Property templates (such as the Assured Shorthold Tenancy) typically apply only to property in England. Different statutory frameworks apply in Wales (Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016) and Scotland (Private Residential Tenancy regime).
5. When you should consult a solicitor
We strongly recommend you consult a qualified UK solicitor where:
- the matter is high value (typically over £25,000);
- the matter involves a regulated industry (financial services, healthcare, immigration, regulated professions);
- there is a dispute or potential dispute;
- international parties or laws are involved;
- you are unsure how a clause should be applied;
- the document concerns family matters, wills, or estate planning;
- criminal liability, personal injury, or significant tax consequences could arise.
You can find a solicitor through the Law Society's Find-a-Solicitor tool, the Bar Council, or your local Citizens Advice Bureau for free or low-cost assistance.
6. No solicitor–client relationship
Use of our service does not create a solicitor–client relationship, legal duty of care, or any other professional relationship between you and UKContracts.uk. No correspondence with our team constitutes legal advice.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, UKContracts.uk is not liable for any loss arising from your use of our templates or AI-generated content, including but not limited to loss of profit, loss of business, loss of contracts, or loss arising from unenforceable or inappropriate clauses. Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
